for anyone who can tell me about this version which, in my
opinion, is way
better than the current confessional heard on the radio. I have
a feeling
it's for his upcoming flic, 8 miles. It just seems lonelier, the
chorus made
more intense by the wailing baby. Me likey.

Yep, no more random tracks for a few weeks.

In the meantime, realise how overrated the Vines' debut is with
the 10 year

Swansong for SchlumbergerSema?

"These days I barely get by/I don't even try"
"It's a treacherous road, with a desolated view"

Radiohead's "No surprises" style twinkle melody appears, and the
song also
ends in a nod to OK Computer-esque alien guitar noises. Perhaps
on the 15th
we'll all "put our hands on the wheel, let the golden age
begin". The guitar
sweeps broadly but majestically across the track, burning all
before it. And
Beck's voice is a perfect blend of an optimist who doesn't
believe himself.

the best track in the world

A few weeks ago there was a song on the radio called "The best
song in the
world". Amusing though it was, it scarcely competes with the
real thing. As
all of you should by now be aware, The Stone Roses debut was/is
the best
album of all time. It's final track was a perfect mixture of
triumphant,
vindictive, self belief and a 6 minute coda that may just be the
finest
blend of wah-wah guitars & era-defining trip-hop drumming ever
to grace the
airwaves. Try driving along with this and feeling that you're
not going to
live forever:

No wonder Graham Coxon quit. Blur have forgotten what a 'song'
is, caught up
in a Gorillaz effort to replace substance with style. But lo, is
that not
the funkiest bass riff of all time (or at least since, erm,
Girls & Boys)?
Doth not that chorus stick in the head? Marry this to Radiohead
lyrics and
it would surely be game over, even here in nonBritMusicLand.

Liam Gallagher and Death In Vegas, 44-1 for Christmas Number
One,
apparently. Those poor odds are justified by an adequate
Oasis-style Beatles

sneers. Not on your side but very much in your music. Overlong &

"lightweight
